The Market Barometer has been in publication since 1991, focusing on recreational and resort community development. The publication has its roots in the consulting practice of Ralph Stewart Bowden, Inc., Real Estate Counselors.

THE COMPANY
The philosophy behind Ralph Stewart Bowden, Inc. is to provide consulting services at a level of principal involvement that is atypical of larger, more institutionalized firms. We typically serve only a small number of clients at any one time, providing for undistracted attention to each assignment and timely response.

Company professionals have a combined work-related experience of more than 50 years. The firm also has access to a network of specialists in other disciplines such as land planning, operations management, golf course design, clubhouse and residential architecture, marketing, legal counsel, and finance.

Ralph Stewart Bowden has served on ULI-The Urban Land Institute’s Residential, Recreational, and Environmental Councils, as well as its research committee and the Recreational Development Handbook committee. Bowden is a member of the National Golf Foundation


SERVICES
The company specializes in providing preliminary and ongoing strategic planning services based on market research and analysis to large- and small-scale master-planned, recreational-oriented developments.

Our efforts generally focus on such issues as: Market Position, Scope of Amenities, Marketing Strategies, Demand, Product Configuration, Pricing and Absorption, Due Diligence, Fiscal Impact, and Disposition Plans for Major Amenities.

We typically represent an integral part of the planning process, participating as a member of the development or management team along with land planners, attorneys and accountants, and architects and operations managers.

By complementing the talents represented by the development team, we provide specialized insights into capital-intensive, market-sensitive areas of project development, and offer decision-oriented perspectives with respect to opportunities and potential problems in the post-planning period of a development’s life.
